Drones are cool. Thanks to Two Penny for capturing our design from overhead. We started out with a plot of land and ended up with this. Can't wait to share mooooore!
We're here! Well, we've been here. We're terrible bloggers (but you guys already know that!).
A few years ago we started thinking about moving back to CA, a year ago we officially put the plan in motion, and now here we are - living in sunny SB. We are actively meeting with vendors, scouting out places and spaces, and simultaneously planning our 2017 weddings! So much more about this soon, but for now some exciting news:
THANK YOU to Elle magazine and Elle Spose (Italia) for nominating VLD as one of the best wedding planners in the world. Yes, it is as surreal as it sounds, and yes there's an award show and a gala and everything during bridal week in Milan, which we hope we'll be able to attend. Prosecco. All of the prosecco!
Check out more about the feature here, with more about this and our CA adventures to come!
Thanks for reading!

A year already? How is that even possible? Well, since it is...
One year ago today we were doing the most wonderful event for the most wonderful families. As former Michiganders, Kate and Pat were living in the south at the time of the wedding planning, but found their love to be forever in a Detroit state of mind. SO, they wanted to bring their loved ones together to showcase what is so great about the city, and that my friends we most definitely did. Read on for more about this great wedding, with photos by the talented Justine Montigny. In true Justine form, I'm going to have you listen to this song while you view this post, which is what Kate walked down the aisle to.
The ceremony was held among a collection of vintage Model-T's. We softened the space by layering rugs on the aisle, and bringing in a palette that was delicate and pretty, and yet still made sense in an industrial space.
Katie Wachowiak is the true talent who makes us better. We love her because we never have to worry if the flowers will be beautiful, or if they will go with everything else we've chosen. She is truly invested into making sure it will. Thank you Katie!
The amazing Chaklos family! Look at those smiles! What a moment it is to see a day like this arrive.
Kate and Pat are our "people" in that they, too, love food and beverage. Everything about the bar and the meal was outstanding. We hired Forte Belanger who offered fantastic service and impeccable presentation. Appetizers had their logo on them, and we had mini versions of everything - even the tacos and tequila shots (yes, tequila shots), were in teeny patron bottles. Such a big hit!
And then we get to the tables. THANK YOU Kimberly and The Lighting Guy for executing this edison bulb installation. The Piquette Plant is not an easy space to work in. We are not allowed to hang anything (or have candles for that matter), but you would never know it or care by seeing this photo...
Menus were printed directly on the napkins for a fun hit-two-birds-with-one-stone twist. Our linens, neutral and textured, provided our tablescape with a romantic feel without being too stuffy. Table numbers were lettered on acrylic to keep it light and airy, and adding in coupes gave a nod to the throwback vibe of the venue, where the Model T was first invented.
The evening was absolute perfection, and we're so grateful to have been a part of it. Many thanks to the Chaklos and Roney families for your trust and your warmth. It's people like you who make this so much more than a job for us. It's truly the most fulfilling thing ever to have people enter your life as clients and forever be friends.
Congratulations to Kate and Pat on one year of marriage! We love you guys!
Avani & Khristoph were married this past July at Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester, Michigan. It was truly a picture-perfect day, celebrating the love between two New York lawyers, and merging Indian and German culture and tradition. Many thanks to Jill DeVries for the beautiful images, as well as the entire team for working so hard to make this event completely seamless and special. Many congrats to Avani & Khristoph!
